Three children dead in Ont. First Nation house fire: chief

Sandy Lake, ONT. – First Nation leader says three children have died in a house fire in northwestern Ontario.

Sandy Lake First Nation President Delores Kakijamic says the fire started around 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

She says three children aged five to nine have died.

Kakijamic says the mother and three other children managed to escape and the children’s father was at work at the time.

She says that society is destroyed.

Kakegamic says two planes with investigators, relief police officers and two investigators are due to arrive in the remote First Nation today.
