Russia spent about $11.15 bln on coronavirus in 2021

Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said that Russia’s budget spending on anti-coronavirus measures last year amounted to about 850 billion rubles ($11.15 billion), Trend TASS reported.

“Last year, we spent about 850 billion rubles on measures to combat the coronavirus,” Siluanov said in an interview with RBC.

The minister noted that the funds were first directed to provide medical care to the population.

According to him, this year the primary health care system will continue to be prepared to receive Covid-19 patients. “This year this problem will become very serious, because Omicron is spreading rapidly, and we are seeing its growth in our country,” Siluanov added.

Earlier, the Minister of Finance told reporters that in the near future the Russian government will publish a plan to combat the Corona virus in connection with the spread of the new omicron variant.
