Health authorities are confident that NSW will soon pass the peak of the Omicron wave despite 48,768 new cases of coronavirus.
This optimism is reinforced by the sharp decline in the growth rate of active cases and hospitalizations.
It is said that current hospital admission rates and ICU rates track better than the “best case scenario” released in the modeling presentation last week.
That data projected that there would be 3,158 hospitalized coronavirus patients at the peak, including 270 in the intensive care unit.
Today’s numbers show that 2,576 patients have been hospitalized, including 193 being admitted to the intensive care unit.
