New Brunswick to provide COVID-19 update as Omicron continues to spread – New Brunswick

New Brunswick will provide an update on the province’s COVID-19 status Friday morning as cases continue to rise.

Prime Minister Blaine Higgs, Health Secretary Dorothy Sheppard, Education and Early Childhood Development Secretary Dominic Cardi and Dr Jennifer Russell, Chief Medical Officer for Health will take part in the briefing.

The update is scheduled to begin at 11 AM and will be streamed live on this page.

New Brunswick reported 572 new cases of COVID-19 and two deaths in their 70s the previous day.

On Thursday, the province said the number of hospitalizations was on the rise. There are 40 people in hospital, of whom 16 are in intensive care units. Of those in hospital, 27 were over 60 years old and 11 were on a ventilator.
