Kazakhstan: truppe a guida russa annunciano inizio ritiro – Mondo

Russian-led forces stationed in Kazakhstan to help the government restore order have begun withdrawals following violent unrest last week. This was announced by the Russian Defense Ministry from Moscow.
“The peacekeeping units of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), having fulfilled their intended tasks, began preparing military and technical materials for loading onto the aircraft of the Russian Air Force with the aim of returning to their permanent base,” the text states. A note from the Ministry.
“According to the plan,” the CSTO forces “began to hand over socially important targets to national law enforcement agencies,” TASS quoted the Russian Defense Ministry as saying.
The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, announced on January 11 that about 2,000 CSTO soldiers would begin leaving the country within two days, with a “gradual withdrawal” that would not last “more than 10 days”.
