Japanese students injured in stabbing during entrance exams

Japanese media, citing Reuters, reported that several high school students while taking their university entrance examination in Tokyo were injured on Saturday in what appeared to be a knife attack.

Japanese public broadcaster NHK said three people were conscious after being injured in the morning when another student attacked them with a bladed object as they gathered for the entrance exam.

The Asahi newspaper said the alleged attacker, a 17-year-old high school student, was arrested.

Half a million high school students across Japan are taking their annual college entrance exams this weekend at hundreds of venues across the country.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department said it could not comment on the details of the attack nor confirm any arrests.
