Ferrovie: Omicron cancella 180 treni regionali da domani – Mobilità e Infrastrutture

There are 180 regional trains in Trenitalia, equivalent to 3% of the local supply, which will be canceled as of tomorrow due to the reorganization of service due to the spread of Omicron infection, while in general – between cancellations and replacement by buses – there will be 550 flights affected, equivalent to 9 % of regional transport. The Fs group explains this, emphasizing that from tomorrow Trenitalia will reorganize regional communications and Frecce, with planned cancellations, “in the largest possible number and, above all, targeting time periods with the lowest turnout”.

Trenitalia ensures its commitment to address the increase in infections from Covid-19 through “measures aimed at containing its inevitable reflection on the regularity of rail services, both regionally and nationally”, adding that Intercity Day and Night remain regular for the time being. As far as regional transportation is concerned, the measures introduced, taken in agreement with the individual regions commissioning the service, will, on average, result in a 3% reduction in the normal supply. Because, with an average of 9% of rail trips cancelled, a large part of them will be replaced by road bus trips. The company details that the rescheduling will not affect the rides and rides most frequently used by students, which will be protected. Routes with a shorter departure alternative will be canceled or replaced with buses. Frecce passengers who have booked these days are informed of the changes via text message, email or directly by the assistance staff present at the stations.
