City of York Council moves to strip Prince Andrew of dukedom

The Prince of Wales shrugged off questions about his brother Prince Andrew in his first public appearance since the Queen removed the royal roles of the Duke of York and the title of HRH.

The duke denies the allegations of sexual abuse and vows to combat it in the United States.

York City Council is fighting to strip him of his last remaining title to protect the area’s reputation.

York Central Labor and Cooperatives MP Rachel Maskell says the city itself is suffering because of its association with Prince Andrew as the Duke of York.

“That’s why people say we don’t want to be associated with the current Duke of York and our city,” she said.
