Bridesmaids drop out of bridezilla’s wedding over list of demands

One woman described in detail how the long list of demands and insults made by her friend the bride led her and the other bridesmaids to withdraw from the wedding.

The 20-year-old opened up about her feud on the Reddit forum ‘Am I the A** hole’, saying that the 23-year-old bride – whom she referred to as ‘Katie’ – had her bridesmaids barred from getting engaged or pregnant because it was her year.

Katie also expects the bridesmaids to pay a total of $2,000 for each of her wedding, including buying themselves new clothes.

The Reddit user, whose handle is u/Extreme_Demand4217, said she was asked to be the ‘alternate’ bridesmaid when she was pregnant and was excited until she learned more about the requirements.

She shared a list of the bride’s demands on an “Am I the Pit” forum, saying she’s considering dropping out of the wedding herself

“Since I joined, five people have pulled out because of her attitude and high expectations,” she wrote. “Well, Katie is upset about everyone dropping out and the number of people she fired.

She added, “She wants everyone to give up everything this year for her wedding,” noting that Katie “fired one of her personal flight attendants for her engagement.”

The woman shared Katie’s list of expectations, starting with the rule that no one is allowed to get pregnant or get engaged because these life events “will overshadow her wedding.”

“You have to respond quickly, quickly, and throughout the day,” she said. “Everything a bride has to pay for by her bridesmaids on her bachelorette trip.”

On top of that, Katie tells her bridesmaids that they have to buy new clothes for every night of the bachelorette party, bridal showers, and rehearsal dinners because she doesn’t want them to wear something they’re already photographed in.

They also have to buy “bridesmaids pajamas for every night of the bachelorette trip” and have their nails done professionally for each event.

Although the wedding won’t be until September, she wants the new outfits for every occasion ordered ASAP, and they should “gift the bride on every occasion too.”

“The bridesmaids are required to spend the night at the bridal party and the night before the wedding,” and “all guests must adhere to a strict formal dress code,” she added.

The Reddit user said that a rough estimate of everything you wanted was about $2,000 per person “on the low end”. She indicated that she was supportive at first, but that soon changed.

She explained, “I’m two weeks postpartum and Katie came to take pictures of my newborn baby as I had hired her.” “When she came he insulted my weight several times and reminded me that I need to lose my baby weight before her wedding.”

The woman said that her boyfriend then proceeded to insult her newborn daughter, saying “it’s sad” that she looked like her father “Hillbilly” and insinuating that her dark skin color was “a bad thing”.

“My boyfriend is half original and when I told her about it, she quickly retracted her comment,” she recalls. However, I started making fun of my skin tone because I’m redheaded and so dull.

The majority of commentators called Katie 'bridezilla' and the bad friend while urging the original poster to withdraw from the wedding immediately.

She kept commenting on my daughter’s Facebook posts about her looks, and even [though] I blocked her from seeing those posts, and it still annoys me. ‘

The Reddit user wanted to know if she was wrong for wanting to leave the wedding and never talk to her friend again, saying her boyfriend thinks she’s “overreacting.”

One person wrote: “This list has ‘Arusella’ written all over it, plus the withdrawal of five people should be a red flag.” It’s her wedding, but it’s your mental health. Get down, and go to LC when the fan hits and sends flying monkeys to harass you.

Another agreed, saying, “There’s something mentally wrong with her to think that’s a little tolerable.”

Withdraw now! Another also advised me that I would drop it as “girlfriend”. I thought it wouldn’t be after reading the list of demands, and that was before I got to the other insults. Want you to pay for her wedding dress and her reception too?
