Ashes live updates: Hobart hosts historic fifth Test as both Australia and England look to end series on a high

Ashes fifth audition in Hobart, live updates

Hello and welcome to ABC Sport’s coverage of Australia and England for the fifth and final Ashes Test in Hobart with me, Simon Smil and later, John Healy, with Dean Belton Also on hand.

It’s a historic moment as Bellerive Oval becomes the last stadium to host an Ashes Test match.

Australia concluded the series long ago, but England fought tooth and nail in Sydney to save themselves from bleaching and regain some pride.

It came amid some unusual scenes, with nine men behind the bat, Steve Smith dancing his leg in dim light, Ben Stokes covering his face with his shirt – unable to watch.

It was something exceptional and highlighted the best that a long game of cricket can be.

There are questions about the selection for both teams, as injuries ravage England, while Australia is spoiled for selection due to its embarrassment of riches with ball and racket.

We are all ready for an interesting test, so we are glad to have you with us.
